AICA celebrates 60 years with online event on ‘Digital: driver of social innovation’


During a live event broadcast online to mark the 60th anniversary of AICA, the ICDL operator in Italy, Giovanni Adorni, President of AICA, spoke about the commitment, vision and mission of AICA towards the Italian recovery post-Covid-19, focusing on social innovation as a strategy and a stimulus for recovery and a factor of diffusion of digital culture.

Among the guests were Luciano Floridi, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information, Oxford University/Bologna University, who spoke about ‘Digital risks and opportunities in the infosphere’, both a crucial element for the development of a fair and sustainable society and one of the most challenging aspects of a rapidly evolving digital transition.

Ferruccio Resta, President of CRUI (Conference of Italian University Rectors) and Rector of the Politecnico di Milano, also explained how the value of digital skills, STEM subjects and scientific and technological research are essential to face the challenges of the future.

During the round table, the reinforcement of IT skills through ICDL certifications was discussed and the relationship between school education and work activity was highlighted; topics such as the gender gap in the digital transition, the ethics of digital and human values, the correlation between a hybrid world and human-robot, technological development, digital skills for businesses and public administrations were also addressed.
