Accessibility highlighted during ICDL Italy session on remote certification testing at HANDImatica XII

AICA, which operates ICDL Italy, participated in the 12th edition of HANDImatica. The event, which took place as an online event in November 2020, brings together organisations and business from around Italy each year to focus on the accessibility of digital technology for autonomy and inclusion for people with disabilities. More than 5,400 people took part in this year’s event, with 18 live events on YouTube and Facebook. The main topic was the critical issues that have emerged because of the Covid-19 health emergency.

ICDL Italy is committed to offer ICDL candidates the opportunity to take their certification tests remotely, in compliance with all quality standards. This opportunity is especially important for people with disabilities. Reflecting this, ICDL Italy organised a public webinar titled, ‘Another step towards inclusion: ICDL remote exams’. The event focused on the importance of certifications for people with disabilities. It analysed the results achieved in past years and presented ways to access certification testing remotely, considering the possibilities and challenges. Among the challenges identified, there was a particular focus on accessibility, which requires identifying and testing alternative methods and tools to overcome obstacles and allow everyone to build and certify their skills.

The webinar was a success, with 227 participants, including many ICDL test centres. More information is available, in Italian, on the website of AICA.
